Care

Storage, care and insurance

Signed flat items, cards, photographs, and documents should be stored in acid-free sleeves and away from UV light. Signatures fade under UV exposure and the fading is irreversible. Framed pieces should use UV-filtering glazing. Jerseys and equipment should be stored in climate-stable environments

Hanging display is acceptable if light conditions are controlled. Never dry-clean a game-used jersey. Specialist collectibles insurance, not standard homeowners coverage, for any collection above a meaningful threshold. Maintain a current inventory with photographs, authentication documentation, and provenance records.

CollectorGrade take

UV fading is the primary conservation threat to signed memorabilia. UV-filtering glazing for framed items and dark storage for unframed pieces is the minimum standard. A faded signature on a significant piece can reduce value by fifty percent or more.
